Mark Syal, ex-CPO at Brainlabs, will drive the agency’s product evolution and strategy.

Medialab, the UK’s leading independent media agency, has today announced the appointment of Mark Syal as its new Chief Product Officer.

Working closely across all teams within the agency, Syal will sharpen Medialab’s agency product vision, enhance digital product delivery at scale, and ensure its proprietary operating system, Apollo, continues to drive more effective outcomes for the agency’s client partners.

Syal joins Medialab after five years at Brainlabs, where he was Global Chief Product Officer leading product strategy across the business. Prior to this, Syal was CPO of EMEA at WPP’s Essence (now EssenceMediacom). He brings deep technical and agency experience, alongside a strong track record of building and evolving products that deliver tangible value for brands.

“Medialab has built a unique proposition that stands out in the market, combining data-led thinking with a deep commitment to doing the right thing for clients,” said Syal. “I’m excited to work closely with teams across the agency to help scale and strengthen the agency’s product, and ensure we continue to deliver meaningful impact and outcomes for our client partners.”

Marcus Orme, CEO and Co-Founder at Medialab, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Mark to Medialab. His experience leading product teams, combined with his curiosity and collaborative approach, makes him a fantastic fit for the agency. Mark’s appointment is a significant step as we shape the next phase of Medialab’s growth and continue to evolve how we deliver for our client partners.”

The appointment comes as Medialab continues to build momentum across the industry, following a period of strong growth and recent new business wins, including loveholidays, Ancestry, WWF, IG Group UK and Rathbones.
