Medialab is one of the fastest growing independent data marketing partnerships in the UK.  We’re now a team of 80 (and growing), based near Oxford Circus, and we need an experienced and enthusiastic HR professional to help us ensure we recruit and keep the best people in the business, and make sure that Medialab continues to be a fantastic place to work.

Skills & behaviours:

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Minimum of 3 years HR Generalist experience
  • A background of HR within an agency environment, or similar industry experience would be an advantage
  • CIPD qualified preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Employment law and a proven record of applying that knowledge in a professional environment
  • Positive attitude with a desire to make your mark in a fast-paced, fast-growing business

An HR professional who is passionate about talent and culture who will work with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and drive a ‘People’ agenda that supports our ‘why’ and helps deliver our vision.  We commit to exceeding expectations for our clients and this is the attitude we look for in those who work here. This role description below gives you a flavour of what we’re looking for and we expect it to be split across the talent/culture and also the policy and operational HR requirements of a fast growing business.

Role description & key responsibilities:

Talent & Culture Strategy

  • Put our people first – partnering with the Board to establish and deliver a talent strategy.
  • Championing the on-going Culture and employee engagement projects – e.g. employee engagement surveys and resulting action plans
  • Working with senior leadership and line managers to help maintain the positive culture within Medialab and ensure our values are lived and breathed by everyone in the business
  • Revamping our appraisal process, creating a culture of continuous feedback and self-evaluation to propel people forward
  • Working with senior leadership team in supporting the wellbeing all members of the Medialab team – e.g. employee assistance programmes; NABS etc

Recruitment and on-boarding

  • Supporting line managers through the recruitment process end-to-end, including selection and interviewing of candidates
  • Development, implementation and delivery of new starter induction process for first 3 months through to annual review.
  • Develop a pipeline of candidates and map out successions plans for company talent
  • Ensure up to date Role Descriptions exist for all positions, reflecting Medialab values, desired behaviours

Training & Development

  • Responsible for co-ordination and facilitation of training and development of employees tailored plans – Training Accounts, external training sourcing, e learning platforms and internal training
  • Point of contact for IPA and other governing bodies – key driver of CPD within Medialab

Policy & Procedure

  • Support Senior Management and Line Managers to ensure HR policies are understood and implemented
  • Provide detailed HR reports to the Board on a monthly basis as a minimum
  • Policy Formation – update / draft and communicate all internal employee related policies and processes
  • Ensuring the business is compliant at all times and the business is advised on updates or changes in employment law and statutory entitlements as applicable in the UK
  • Salary review


  • Administration of employee-related paperwork, such as employment contracts, new starter packs, salary review, end of probationary periods, change to terms and conditions of employment or formal notices of termination.
  • Administering financial elements such as payroll
  • Management of HR / Employee Files
  • Handling highly confidential information in an honest and trustworthy way

Employee Relations

  • Handling employment relations issues such as grievances and employee welfare
  • Overseeing, recording and management of staff attendance and absence monitoring.
  • Working with line managers to address performance concerns – drive coaching sessions / to draft and implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIP’s)
  • Providing guidance and support to Line Managers and Senior Management on employee matters as they arise
