The Role:

We are hiring for an outstanding Head of Marketing Effectiveness to join our fast paced, growing Data team at Medialab. Reporting into the Board of Directors and Chief Data Officer, this new Marketing Effectiveness & Data Science lead will be a critical hire for the team and will be given ownership of taking the Data Science team forward in a manner that matches both the Leadership team’s and our client’s ambitions.

Medialab is a Data Marketing Partnership with data and insight at its core. We are growing fast and demonstrating the difference and success that data driven marketing approaches can make to our clients.

Our business is built around our unique marketing intelligence platform Apollo – a technology which turns data in to insights we can act on.

Every day in this role will be different, but the first 100 days will involve; Reviewing our existing analytics approaches, lead and deliver client work, build relationships across the  Apollo team & company, review and help assist development of Apollo analytics product roadmap working with Apollo heads and CDO.

This role will have an important team leadership aspect, where the successful candidate will manage a team of 6 ambitious and fast learning data scientists at varying levels and help shape the future development and growth of this team


Required skills

Core Competencies and Skills Required

  • Experience: 6-10 years’ experience in a marketing, media or business planning environment. Likely to be a stats / math / economics graduate. Should have good familiarity with marketing / media metrics and data.
  • Client Liaison – Mid-level: Being able to liaise with mid-level clients, take briefs and suggest outline responses.
  • Client Liaison – Senior: Work directly with senior level clients. Anticipate their requests, respond accordingly. Build strong client relationships.
  • Consulting / client problem solving: Listen and understand client issues. Gather information. Consider the contribution of data and analytics. Suggest options
  • Line management – to develop and motivate the team and work with the board on future recruitment road map.

Modelling Process Skills

  • Experience in delivering media measurement and effectiveness analyses across Marketing Mix Modelling, attribution modelling, A/B testing, and custom econometrics analyses.
  • A passion for media and marketing and motivated by consistently improving measurement solutions
  • Enthusiastic about driving innovation, holding a curious mind-set
  • A keen coder, who enjoys being hands-on in the development side of analytics
  • Experience in R, including exposure to writing and editing R packages.
  • Comfortable using SQL including the ability to manage large data sets utilising SQL
  • Interest and experience in learning new languages or database frameworks (e.g. Athena, Python, R-Shiny, etc.).
  • Strong grasp of statistical, optimisation and econometric techniques which bring value to clients.

Desired skills

  • Knowledge of GCP, Big Query and ADH
  • 1st party/user level data usage
