The Role:

We are looking for an ambitious and strategic Business Director to join and lead one of our fast paced, growing client teams. In this senior leadership role, the successful Business Director will have strategical responsibility for shaping, managing, growing and driving forward a talented team of individual and high profile, profitable clients, as well as having direct input and influence on Medialab’s capabilities, culture and strategic direction.

This role reports directly into the board and has a team of direct managed reports.

Responsibilities:

Client Development

  • Responsible and accountable for client budgets and financial activities.
  • Build transformative client partnerships
  • Create and execute integrated, data driven strategies that deliver growth for clients
  • Closely work with the data science and digital teams to ensure we always deliver a truly data-driven, integrated approach across all clients, using Apollo and other relevant tools and techniques
  • Full understanding of the client, industry, brand and audiences to reach client objectives
  • Responsible for the overall strategic approach for each client account, ensuring implementation, execution and delivery meets all business objectives and strategies
  • Help to structure and market strategic partnerships to clients
  • Support new business success
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Channel neutral planning across all media including SEO, Content, Social and Programmatic

Team Development

  • Lead and develop a best-in-class client planning team
  • Become a trusted member of the MLG leadership team, fully invested in partnering to grow and diversify the business by delivering every day on the core values of the business
  • Oversee client strategy with responsibility for annual planning. Responsible for full integrated media strategy and planning to meet client objectives.
  • Clear communicating of company and client goals and objectives to ensure the team are working towards a collective ambition to reach common goal and objectives across the business.
  • Maintaining and growing the team. Ensuring they deliver best in class account management, planning and campaign delivery.
  • Identify and plan training and development opportunities to ensure the development of the individuals as well as the collective team.
  • Escalation point of contact for conflict management and resolution within team or client.
  • Motivate the team across all channels and initiatives

Organisational Development

  • Develop and grow the Medialab proposition through identification of macro and micro trends.
  • Drive Medialab reputation
  • Reinforce Medialab’s strong culture
  • Ensure agency processes are best in class through working with specialists to development planning / delivery frameworks.
  • Grow and develop partner relationships such as media owners, tech suppliers ensuring the agency is always at the forefront.
  • Elevating the quality of our data driven media and marketing planning product.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in Performance focused media planning, buying and management expertise – direct response media buying in TV, and Facebook, essential
  • Proven experience across brand media planning and buying
  • Experience taking client briefs and recommending campaign strategy, essential
  • Experience in managing client accounts and budgets
  • Experience in one of the following sectors: non-for-profit, financial services, D2C, mail order. Non-for-profit and D2C, desired
  • Proven experience working with multiple stakeholders, including senior clients, suppliers, media owners and client agencies
  • Ability to manage multiple campaigns and projects alongside each other – consistently delivering high quality work on deadline
  • Proficient with excel, pivot tables, formula’s and manipulating data to draw insight, essential
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of media planning tools such as ACORN, MOSIAC, Nielsen, TGI, YouGov, TouchPoints and others.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and a track record of exceeding expectations
  • Strong leadership and management skills having managed multiple team members, ideally minimum of 4
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
